How JustSubly handles your information.

JustSubly is a habit and audio app for subliminals and affirmations. You can listen to tracks, track your listening time and streaks, save playlists, upload your own audio, and connect with accountability buddies and circles. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the JustSubly app and the justsubly.com website.

Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, username, display name, and date of birth (used to confirm you meet our minimum age). If you sign in with Apple, we receive the details you choose to share with us.

Profile and content. Anything you create in the app, including your avatar, playlists, uploaded audio files, posts, comments, stories, direct messages, group circle messages, buddy requests, and any reports you submit.

Activity. Your listening time, daily check ins, and streaks, so the app can show your progress in JustSubly. We also count how many searches you run each day, so we can apply your daily search limit. Your recent searches are kept on your device. Search terms go to our search service to fetch results, and results are cached by search term for a short time so repeat searches are faster. We do not link search terms to your account.

Subscription status. Whether you have an active JustSubly Pro subscription or trial. Payments are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Device and technical data. A push notification token if you enable notifications, along with basic app and device information and log data used for reliability and security.

How we use your information

We use your information to operate JustSubly and your account, play and recommend audio, track the listening time and streaks you build in JustSubly, deliver the notifications and reminders you turn on, run safety and moderation, send product updates you asked for, keep the service reliable and secure, and meet our legal obligations. Data from your connected YouTube account is used only as described in the YouTube account connection section below.

Content moderation

To keep JustSubly safe, content you submit such as usernames, posts, comments, messages, and profile text is screened by automated moderation, including keyword filters and third party artificial intelligence moderation services, before it appears. Content that is blocked or flagged may be logged and reviewed by our team. We may remove content, hide it, restrict accounts, or take other action where needed, and we may act on reports submitted by other users.

AI features

Some parts of JustSubly are powered by artificial intelligence, and we want you to know exactly where.

Writing affirmations. If you describe a goal and ask JustSubly to draft affirmations for you, the text you type is sent to Google's Gemini AI, which writes them. You can edit every line before you use it.
The voices. Every voice in the Sub Maker is generated by Google's Gemini text to speech. They are synthetic voices, not recordings of real people, and the names and pictures attached to them are illustrative.
Rendering. The finished subliminal is assembled on Google Cloud.
Moderation. Content you post is screened by OpenAI and Google Perspective, as described above.

This happens only to create or check what you asked for. Your affirmation text and voice tracks are not used for advertising and are not sold, and these providers process the content as our service providers under their own terms. AI can make mistakes, so please read anything it writes before you use it.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers that process data only as needed to run JustSubly:

Supabase for hosting, database, authentication, and file storage.
Resend for sending account and product emails.
Apple and RevenueCat for processing and managing subscriptions.
Brave Search and the YouTube Data API to find videos and playlists for your searches. Brave returns results from its own web index, and video details such as titles, thumbnails, and durations come from the YouTube Data API.
YouTube and Google for playback and video details. Google's Privacy Policy applies to YouTube data, and media stays on YouTube.
OpenAI and Google Perspective for automated content moderation.
Google Gemini and Google Cloud for writing affirmations, generating the synthetic voices, and rendering your subliminals.
Cloudflare for security and content delivery.

YouTube

Search and playback in JustSubly use YouTube API Services. By using these features you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to information handled by YouTube. Videos remain hosted on YouTube.

YouTube account connection

Connecting your YouTube account is optional. It exists for one reason: so you can import playlists you already own instead of pasting links one at a time. JustSubly asks Google for read only access, the youtube.readonly scope. We cannot upload, edit, or delete anything on your YouTube account.

What we access. Your channel title, so we can show you which account is connected. The playlists you own, including private and unlisted ones. For each playlist we read its id, title, thumbnail, item count, and privacy setting. When you import a playlist, we read the id, title, channel title, thumbnail, and duration of each video in it. We do not read your watch history, your subscriptions, your comments, or anyone else's private content.

Where the tokens live. The access and refresh tokens Google issues are stored on our servers only, in a table that no app or browser key can read, and they are encrypted at rest by our database provider. They are never stored on your device. We use them to list your playlists, to import the ones you pick, and to re-check those imports on a schedule so the saved details stay current.

How long we keep it. Imported playlist details stay while your connection is active. YouTube requires stored playlist data to be refreshed or deleted within 30 days, so we re-check each import with YouTube before then. If we cannot refresh it in time, we delete our copy. That can happen because you removed our access, because the playlist is gone from YouTube, or because we could not reach YouTube before the 30 days are up. You can also delete an imported playlist yourself at any time. Disconnecting revokes our access with Google, deletes the stored tokens, and deletes the playlists you imported from your connected account. Playlists you added by pasting a public link are not from your account, so they stay. Deleting your JustSubly account revokes the grant at Google and deletes the tokens, your imported playlists, and the rest of your data.

What we do and never do. We use your YouTube account connection only to list your playlists, to import the ones you choose, and to keep those imports current. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not sell YouTube data, share it with anyone, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

You can withdraw our access at any time from your Google account permissions page, or by tapping Disconnect in the app. Our use of YouTube data complies with the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Age

JustSubly is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will remove it. If you are under 18, please use JustSubly with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Your rights and choices

You can access your information, request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and data from the privacy settings in the app, or by contacting [email protected]. You can turn notifications on or off on your device, and unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR, or the CCPA, and we honour those rights where they apply.

Data retention and security

We keep your information while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account, except where we need to retain limited information for legal, safety, or fraud prevention reasons. We protect your information with encryption in transit and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as JustSubly grows. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
